Turtle Survival Alliance

Turtle Survival Alliance (TSA) is a global conservation organization that works to create a planet where tortoises and freshwater turtles can thrive in the wild. Their science-based initiatives are directed by local leaders, inspiring sustainable, community-based stewardship to prevent extinctions.

During my internship with TSA, I aided in social media content creation, where I filmed and edited reels for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. I also helped write the captions, which had to be worded with a certain tone to be consistent with the brand voice. My reels were producing twice as much interaction with viewers within 3 months. And by the end of those few months, my contributions to TSA's social media platforms had aided in 400+ new followers.

My duties also included supporting marketing campaigns, from design to research and reaching out to printers to fill orders. One major project I was tasked with was designing a rack card to be handed out at outreach and special events. This rack card's purpose is to promote Turtle Conservation Coalition's most recent publication, Turtles in Trouble, in which TSA is part of.

This internship gave me a much better understanding of how design is related to Marketing and Communications, and how a unique blend of skills in both areas certainly makes the job easier. It also made me a super turtle nerd!
